Today’s Tips (02/07)
Not a lot going on today as far as the racing is concerned but we are going to have one bet at Windsor.
2:20 Windsor - MIGHTY GURKHA (2/1) - 1pt WIN
I tipped this horse the last day when he bolted up at Leicester on the class drop. He's taken a big rise in the weight for that victory but his back form suggests that he's capable of handling it. The fascinating thing about this race is the pace profile. I would expect my pick and AIRSHOW to set a strong early gallop with SHARP POWER and Co looking to track in behind. The crucial part of this contest will therefore be the middle sector as the front pair ramp up the gallop into the straight. If SHARP POWER can handle the MPH increase without getting outpaced, then he will probably go past the leaders in the final furlong and get the win. However, he's shown a tendency to hit a flat spot midrace, and that would be devastating to his chances here as the pace tends to hold up and if MG ends up with a 2 length down on the golden highway, then it would take a huge effort from SP to go past him. I'm hoping that's how the race pans out and I'm hoping MIGHT G gets the win with SHARP POWER back in second as I've also played the straight forecast. Finally, it's worth mentioning CATWALK MODEL who ran a good time when winning at Yarmouth the last day. Whilst a case can certainly be made for her, taking on the boys, carrying weight is going to make life really tough for her and the fact that he usual apprentice couldn't take the ride is a definitely cause for concern as she's a headstrong sort. Ultimately, I'm either going to be very right, or very wrong in that race. Fingers crossed it's the former! 🤞
