Today’s Best Bets (30/06)
We have 4 strong bets today at Musselburgh/Thirsk. We also have some info running later on at Bath together with a couple of extras at Kempton. If this afternoon goes to plan, we will either send them out in a separate blog post or via our telegram group (LINK BELOW)
4:05 Musselburgh - CATCH MY BREATH (5/1) - WIN - This is a trappy race featuring a bunch of horse who all have their quirks. The likes of SAND CHORUS and CLAY REGAZZONI deserve respect but ultimately, I believe that CATCH MY BREATH is the obvious value in this contest. Whilst he can be prone to start slowly, he should have plenty of time to get into position in this contest and if Graham Lee can time it right, he’ll win.
4:30 Thirsk - KODIKOVA (7/1 - 4places) - EW - This filly caught my the last day on her first run for Julie Camacho. It was also her first run at 6f and it looked to suit here perfectly. She’s well drawn to today, she has Paul booked for the ride and I definitely think there’s room for further improvement. My only slight worry is that I know from my discussions with connections, that both CROCODILE POWER and SINGE ANGLAIS are fancied today but I just think both of those runners are now too short to be of interest.
4:35 Musselburgh - NEVER DARK (5/2) - WIN - This gelding has plenty of potential and certainly has the pedigree to be better than he’s shown so far. He’s likely to get a very strong gallop to chase here too and if Andrew can settle him in 3rd or 4th a few lengths off the speed early then I think he’ll cruise into this and win going away. the danger in the finish is likely to be DENZILS LAUGHING but I do have some doubts about really fast ground for that horse.
5:00 Thirsk - WOR WILLIE (2/1) - WIN - A horse we have been watching for a while and certainly looks to be in need of this step up in trip. This really isn’t a very good race on paper and he’s actually the only horse in the field to have run a half decent speed figure in the last year which should make him very tough to beat. There has been money for OLYMPUS who may prove to be the danger but that one will certainly need to improve if he’s to beat us. If anyone wishes to cover all the angles, they could look to play the combination forecast but we are happy enough with the win single only.
