As most of you know, racing in the US on Monday to Thursday is pretty poor but there was one race tonight that peaked my interest and we will be having a cheeky bet in it.
R4 Mahoning Park - $26,000 Allowance - 1 mile
We have seven runners due to go to post here and none of them have won more than two races in their careers. The speed is likely to come via the 1 horse (GOODBYEYELLOWBRICKRD) and the 7 horse (ICON). Looking at their speed figures I would expect them to set an honest gallop and i would expect ICON to get the better of his front running rival coming into the straight. Then it will be time for Rivera to play catch me if you can. In this particular instance, I think one horse will almost certainly be able to catch him and that's WE ALL SEE IT. This horse was Vet scratch when last seen and is now taking a sizeable class drop. This would usually be a major red flag but he's not running for a Claim and the jockey has a remarkable strike rate for the trainer. Oliveros heads to the track tonight for just two rides and as his first looks like a no hoper, we have to assume that WE ALL SEE IT is fit and ready to fire. He also did two really nice bits of work recently, which again would reinforce my conclusion. To put it simply, if WASI still has 4 legs and a head, he should have every chance of winning this race and on old form, he's beat this field going backwards! The 9/4 on offer with Betfair looks more than reasonable and I've had a medium win bet.
